Our family is what you call a musical family. In fact, we are a band! We play together every chance we get and also play for praise and worship at our church; our eldest son plays the saxophone, our daughter plays violin and the bass guitar, our second son is a drummer and is now learning to play the guitar, my husband can play drums, the bass guitar and the guitar, while I have been playing the piano since I was five years old.
When our kids started to pick up the instruments they wanted to play, I was dismayed that no one seemed to have an interest in learning piano. However, RD came along (nine years after our third child), and I had some hope that maybe he would be the one. 🙂 Fast forward to seven years later, and sure enough, RD is beginning to take an interest in piano. Yey!
I’d just broached the idea one day and asked him if he would like to try to learn playing piano and he said he’d do it. It only took one session, and he was hooked! He is especially challenged when he is learning a new piece. He practices it again and again until he has it down pat. It is such a joy for me to see music passed down through my family. Music is and will always be a part of our lives and we hope this will also be instilled in RD.
