RD’s most challenging subject is Filipino (which is the Philippines’ national language). Filipino is a required subject in the curriculum recommended by the Department of Education (DepEd) of the Philippines. As RD has been raised to speak English since he started to talk, he has been having a difficult time with this subject. He struggles to read, let alone understand the language. I am constantly on the look-out for ways to make this experience easier for him.
One day, he was reading a particular section in His Filipino textbook when he mistakenly read MRT (which stands for Metro Rail Transit) as “mert.”
Realizing his mistake, he launches into laughter that went on and on. I was taking a video at that time, and took this priceless moment of him laughing at himself. By the end of the video, I was in tears from laughing so much. One of the joys of homeschooling is that you get to experience precious moments like this with your child. Enjoy the video!
